Channel Jammed?
1. Do NOT respond to the jammer.
2. Weatherman sends text: "GO 2" (or 3, 4).
3. Switch to indicated channel (labeled on radio).
4. Radio check when Weatherman calls for one.
Radio Etiquette
  • Push, pause, talk. Hold button 1 sec before speaking. Radio clips the first half-second.
  • Call format: "[Who], this is [you]. [Message]. Over."
  • Confirm: "[Name], this is [you]. Copy, [repeat back]. Over."
  • 10 seconds max. Longer = use your phone.
  • Only answer calls for you. Don't jump in on other traffic.
  • "Over" = I'm done. Don't transmit until you hear it.
  • Stay on Ch 1 unless Weatherman directs a switch.
Examples
Standard call:
You: "Weatherman, this is Christy. Group of twelve at east entrance, no credentials. Over."
Weatherman: "Christy, Weatherman. Copy, twelve at east, no credentials. Stand by. Over."
Emergency:
You: "ALL STATIONS, this is Alec. EMERGENCY — medical, main hall row 6, male down. Over."
Everyone silent. Weatherman coordinates.
EMERGENCY FORMAT
"ALL STATIONS, this is [name]. EMERGENCY — [type], [location], [description]. Over."
MEDICAL · ALTERCATION · PERSON WITH WEAPON · FIRE
HOT MIC: If your PTT button gets stuck, it blocks the entire channel. If you hear no traffic and nobody responds — check your button. TX light on = you're hot. Release immediately.

3. Radios charge overnight for Day 2.
